The importance of Chimney Repairs

The fireplace is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and heart-warming part of any home. However, you need to ensure that you pay proper attention to your Chimney Repairs in order to ensure the safety of your family. Without maintenance and proper cleaning, your chimney or fireplace can prove to be a serious fire hazard. Precisely, this is where professional chimney repair services step in. You should make certain the chimney sweep professionals visit your home regularly to inspect and sweep to correct any potential problems with your chimneys.

Why Chimney Repairs are of Utmost Importance?

The basic purpose of a chimney is to draw harmful gases and smoke produced in your fireplace out into the atmosphere. It is necessary to expel out these gases because some of these gases, such as carbon monoxide, are extremely dangerous, and can also prove to be life threatening in many cases.

The second most fundamental purpose of a chimney is to absorb excessive heat from the fire place. This is crucial because most of the household items are combustible, and can easily catch fire if the temperature reaches a certain point. These are some of the reasons why it’s so important to get your Chimney Repaired by experienced and skilled professionals.

Some of the common problems that can occur within chimneys and on the Chimney Stacks are creosote deposits, chimney blockage, holes or cracks in the flue, crumbling brickwork, lead chimney flashings and cracking or collapsing chimney issues, and problems with the chimney pot and cap, among others.

If your chimney is suffering from any of these issues, make sure to contact reputable builder or roofer such as Lee Jones Building and Roofing contractors to get the necessary repair work done before using the fireplace or chimney again.

During the high winds last January, our old chimney gave us a few headaches! It’s not just active ones that can cause problems, ours was unused as we’ve had a gas fire for years!

We’d made the mistake of not having the chimney pots taken down years before and last year they finally blew clean off, hitting the roof, smashing tiles and catching the guttering on the way down!

Finding someone to repair the damage and seal off the chimney was a nightmare & some of the people we’d contacted were more interested in what our insurance excess was before they’d quote us a price!

        Hi John

Chimney pots can be very dangerous if not maintained I have been on a lot of roofs where we have been able to dismantal chimney brockwork just by using our hands and literaly picking the bricks off one by one!

With a lot of insurance work it can be a long time before the builder gets paid, its not unusual for them to allow a bit more in the quotation to cover this
